While Black Friday, Cyber Monday and even Small Business Saturday are very well known and well advertised ‘occasions’ at the end of November, we only really participate in Giving Tuesday.
It has recently been touted as the National Day of Giving, and you gotta know how much that speaks to my heart!!
The Tuesday following the US Thanksgiving, stylized as #GivingTuesday for the purposes of hashtag activism, as become a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world”. According to Wikipedia 🙂
For the last 5 years, I have taken 10% of our total sales that day and donated them to a charity near and dear to me or to a recent crisis needing aid, and have always done this behind the scenes and without any announcement or proclamation. This year, I excitedly did things differently and announced my plan to you; our giving community, and WOW, did you ever respond.
After our email went out, you responded quickly and feverishly with $14, 000 in gift basket orders, resulting in a fabulous donation to The International Conservation Fund of Canada (ICFC) for $1400!! Allowing them to continue their amazing work. Here’s a link to their site. https://icfcanada.org/
Although I had planned to stop by their project while in Peru this month doing other volunteer work; stupid Covid and its variants forced me to postpone the trip ’til next year but I am sure they are doing incredible things.
As I say, more times than we can count and add the hashtags to any post I write #MyClientsareGivers and I couldn’t be more grateful than to work with such an incredible group of people.
